And We’re Back

For the last nine months our blog has gone quiet while I’ve  been working feverishly to finish a book about our family’s travels. After years working in business and project management, I can assure you that I now have tremendous respect for the authors, actors and artists of the world. Creative work is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Now that my book is complete, I’ve been working on getting the thing published. (Any advice is welcome.)

However, after spending all those months writing, I already miss it. It’s a rewarding and often exhilarating experience to sit down at my computer and use my heart, mind and vocabulary to craft sentences that will bring a scene to life on the page. So, you can expect this blog to rev back up again. We have some fun travel to report on and some big trips coming up in the near future. The experience of transitioning into a “normal” life over the past year has been a fascinating time for us as well, and we’ll share some of the lessons we took from our trip. Our daughter, Emily, will also be contributing her writing skills to this blog and offering a look at the world from the perspective on a 13-year-old. And of course, we’re still plugging away at our 100 volunteer projects goal, so I’ll be sharing stories of the work we’ve done toward that since last spring.

We’re back and excited to start sharing our lives again. In the meantime, here a few photos from our new hometown in Colorado.

  1. I just mentioned to your mother that I missed your blogs and hoped you would start them again. Thanks, Tracey. I’ll look forward to reading about your new adventures!

  2. Welcome back, Tracey!

I am so happy you wrote and finished the book about your extraordinary adventures. Hopefully I can get a copy or a download here in Germany!!

  3. Hi Tracey – how great to read your inspiring blogs once again!! I am very much looking forward to reading your book. I am assuming you will let us know how we can purchase it when it is published!. How are your beautiful girls doing? Cheers Drew (and Ant and Steve and Piper but not Piko because he died of cancer last year)

    1. Drew! It’s wonderful to hear from you! I promise you will be one of the first to know if it gets published because you’re in it! :-) I talk about our time at your home in the book, so you’ll be contacted for signing a release and deciding if you’d prefer to have your names changed or left as is. We’ll see how it goes. This publishing game is proving to be a challenging one. Hopefully you’ll be hearing from me someday. Give our best to everyone. So sorry to hear of Piko, but he certainly had a lovely journey on this planet with your family.

  4. I am so glad that you are posting on your blog again. I have missed being inspired by your experiences and wonderful way with words! You are amazing.
